Get a short Python program working for me

I am new to Python but would like to get this project working for me:

using the sample ESRI ASCII .asc file uploaded (NB the uploaded file needs the '.txt' removing from it's filename before use as it wouldn't upload as a .asc file).

Not sure if the asc file needs to contain a nodata value or not...

If it's not already using python 3 then it should be upgraded.

I will need clearly written step by step instructions on how to set up Python to run this on my laptop so that I can convert any asc file to a stl file as per the website.
