Code my homepage hover

I have a layout for a web page with image thumbnails. The hover state for each image switches to a black and white version of the image and adds text. Interested in a really subtle swipe up effect when the hover text appears. I'll provide image assets, mockup of the layout, and whatever code snippets from my site you might need.

I also broke my mobile css while redesigning a sidebar, so let me know if you have interest/experience in also taking on that project.
