General information for the app: The app tracks sampling kits and collects field data
Kind of development: New app from scratch
Description of requirements/features: I need an app that will allow me to allocate a set of water sampling kit numbers to a client when an order comes in, allow the client to then check out a subset of those kits every time they go into the field, complete a mobile field data collection form at the point of sampling (my main client uses iOS devices) including kit number, georeference, a photo and scanning a barcode, and log the used kit numbers as being ready for collection. I then need to be able to link those used kit numbers against the original purchase order numbers and assign them a lab ID number. Ideally I would then like to be able to track progress through the lab (a progress bar of some kind) so the client can see what stage the samples have got to.

    Hi Kat, I have a lot of questions but prefer to keep it within PPH so we are both safe guarded and have a history at our finger tips. Ok so the database will need to be hosted on a server. Do you have one or would you need to source one. I would imagine you will probably be looking for a backend as a service (baas) as a starter and free choice to start.

    What kind of equipment would you use in the lab to update progress or could you use the same app but with an admin login?

    Would you use an iPhone to scan the barcodes (loads of third party plugins available to do this).

    Would you be happy to use iOS platform solely or would you want a desktop app for admins. Would this be Mac os or windows based?
