Description
Mumvault is a dual-purpose family organisation and digital legacy app. It gives families one secure place to store all their important household information — insurance, mortgages, children's details, passwords, documents — and allows users to record messages for loved ones to receive at future life moments (18th birthdays, weddings, Christmas). We are pre-launch with a live waitlist, registered trademark and strong brand already in place.
What We Need to Build (MVP):
User registration, login and profile (biometric/Face ID support)
Secure data vault with categorised sections (home, finances, children, vehicles, documents)
Document and photo upload storage
Trusted person access — user nominates someone who can access the vault under defined conditions
Future message scheduler — written messages (and ideally voice/video) delivered to nominated recipients at a specified future date or life event
GDPR compliant UK data storage
Clean, warm UI matching our existing brand (assets provided)
Ideal Tech Stack:
React Native or Flutter (cross-platform iOS & Android), secure cloud backend (Firebase or AWS), end-to-end encryption.
About You:
Proven experience building consumer mobile apps
Portfolio of live iOS/Android apps (please share links)
Comfortable with security-sensitive data
Clear communicator — this is a founder-led project and regular updates matter
Stage & Budget:
This is an early-stage startup. I am open to discussing a combination of paid development and equity for the right person. Please provide a fixed-price quote for the MVP scope above and indicate your timeline.

Hi Rebecca, could you please let me know how the trusted-person access is expected to work in practice—will access be granted through a user-defined trigger, inactivity monitoring, or verification of a life event/death? This workflow is central to the security, encryption strategy, and compliance requirements of the MVP.
Thanks
Naresh -

How would you like future message delivery to be managed? Should messages be scheduled only by specific dates, or should the system also support event-based triggers such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, or other custom milestones? Additionally, should recipients receive messages via email, in-app notifications, SMS, or a combination of channels?
- For the vault section, should users be able to create custom categories and folders in addition to the predefined sections such as home, finances, children, vehicles, and documents? Also, do you envision any granular sharing permissions where specific vault categories can be shared with different trusted individuals while keeping other sections private? -

Hi Rebecca,
Before quoting any fixed cost or timeline I'd love to understand the following:
1. Do you already have UI/UX designs finalized or should I adapt from your brand assets?
2. Should biometric + Face ID be mandatory or optional per device support?
3. How should “trusted access” be legally triggered (manual, inactivity, death verification integration)?
4. Do you want voice/video messaging in MVP or Phase 2?
5. Any preferred compliance/legal structure for UK GDPR hosting (AWS region preference)?
Looking forward to your response. -

Hi Rebecca, For the MVP, would you like to launch first with the core encrypted vault, document uploads, trusted person access, and scheduled written messages, then add voice/video messages in phase 2, or do you want voice/video scheduling included in the first release?

One question I have is regarding the trusted-person access feature: should access be granted immediately when predefined conditions are met, or do you envision a verification process involving multiple trusted contacts, inactivity periods, or approval workflows before vault contents become accessible? This decision will significantly influence both the security model and backend architecture.
