London, GBUnfortunately, our experience working with this developer was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
The agreed total cost for the project was £300, of which we had already paid £240 (80%). Despite this substantial payment, the work delivered was not usable. Both the homepage and the filmography page were incomplete and not fit for purpose, to the extent that we had to bring in another developer to rebuild the homepage so it could function properly at all.
Our concerns are not limited to the quality of the delivery, but more seriously to the developer’s conduct and attitude throughout the project.
Key issues included:
Repeated claims that the project was “completed” despite core functionality being broken or unusable
Refusal to make further reasonable adjustments while the site was clearly not ready for launch
Aggressive and threatening communication regarding payment
Threats to activate scripts or interfere with the website
Most seriously, the developer had access to our DigitalOcean account and deleted the entire website, and some of our assets on the site despite the fact that:
80% of the payment had already been made
No mutual agreement had been reached to terminate services
No legal or contractual right existed to take such unilateral action.
This action was completely unacceptable, highly unprofessional, and caused disruption, stress, and additional costs on our side. Deleting a client’s live infrastructure as leverage in a payment dispute is a serious breach of trust and basic professional standards.
The delivered work did not meet an acceptable or usable standard, and communication quickly deteriorated into threats and intimidation rather than constructive problem-solving.
We strongly advise others to avoid working with this developer. It is far better to work with a more experienced and professional developer even at a higher cost than to risk poor-quality delivery, aggressive communication, and destructive actions like those we experienced.
This was a deeply disappointing experience, and we would not work with this developer again under any circumstances.
