    Description

    Experience Level: Expert
    E Commerce

I have a basic Wordpress’ website set up at www.massive-discount-tyres.co.uk This website now needs a tyre database integrating to allow people to search for tyres on the website. Once they have found the tyres they want they can then purchase the tyres online. With our website we’ll just be selling the tyres via mail-order so they cannot choose to have them fitted • this will be a stage 2 development.

    Example Websites

There are a number of online tyre retailers and our system will need to create a similar search facility. The sites to look at are:

    www.blackcircles.com
www.e-tyres.co.uk - THIS SITE IS THE ONE WE LIKE BEST FOR THE WAY THE DATABASE DISPLAYS

You’ll see that these sites use a series of drop down boxes to allow the users to search for their tyre.

    Process Overview

    1. User searches for tyres. They will search via;
    a. Width
    b. Profile
    c. Tyre size
    d. Speed rating

You can see how the tyres are then displayed from the database. We like the way e-tyres do this best.

    2. The user can select the quantity they require and then buy via credit card/PayPal etc.
    3. The order details are sent to us via e-mail.

    Database:

The field that the database needs to display are: The blue will be displayed in the main page and then the red would be displayed in a read more’ page.

The italicised text is the related fields in the database. (we can let you have a look at a snapshot of the data)

    Manufacturer: MANU_DESCRIPTION
    Description: STOCK_DESCRIPTN
    Vehicle: DESCRIPTION
    Width: SECTION
    Profile: PROFILE
    Tyre Size: RIM
    Speed Rating: SPEED
Load: LOAD_INDEX (This only needs to show if it’s present)
    Tread Pattern: TREADPATTERN
Picture: GRAPHIC (This will display an image if one is available)
Price: This will need to display a price that we enter, for example the database price is the price to us and we’ll need to mark up on it. We need to be able to add a percentage increase as well as edit individual prices.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE MAY NEED TO RE-ORDER THE INFORMATION, THIS IS OUR INITIAL THOUGHTS ON DISPLAY ORDER.

    Stage 2 Development

With stage 2 we will need to be able to integrate a system similar to Black Circles where the user can put in their postcode and find their nearest tyre depot to have their tyres fitted. The system will need to be able include such items as feedback on the tyre depot.

Please note that the depot information is not available at the moment.
