Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
We make products that are put together from various other components, some of which have unique serial numbers. Our finished products have their own unique serial numbers. We currently have an excel spreadsheet to record the serial numbers of the components that go into each product manufactured. I've attached a template to show what we are currently using.
We would like to have a database developed, preferably web-based (mysql or php)but we will consider an Access database too. Ideally this would allow us to select the type of product that we are manufacturing, which would bring up a record that would be automatically serial numbered in increments from the last product recorded. This record would allow us to enter a certain amount of information based on the product type e.g 12 cell serial numbers, 3 inverter number for product A, 5 cell serial numbers and 1 inverter serial number for product B. The information to be entered should also include things like supplier and date of purchase of component as well as our own sales info.
We would like to be able to edit the templates for records and create templates for a new product type so that when we develop new products we can easily create records for these.
Additionally we would like the database to be fully searchable by both our serial numbers and those of the components.
Any questions please get in touch.
Thanks,
