Database and web site hosting problems with GoDaddy

Hi - we are niche recruitment business with a basic website and bespoke but basic database both hosted by GoDaddy. The website is on with Economy Linux Hosting with cPanel and the database is on with Gen3 VPS. The website works fine but the data base is proving problematic whenever our SSL certificate come up for renewal - we are not very IT literate and don't pay for full IT help and the lady who helped us with all the setup when we opened for business 5 years ago is no longer working.
We are looking for help to streamline our hosting - do we need to be on both? How do we sort our SSL certificate issues? Is there any ongoing support we might need going forward? Should we be using GoDaddy or are there simpler and cheaper options out there for a business like ours?
