Word Press Salient website needs help

My current site is basic and is not making full use of Salient.

I will only hire someone who will work with me online on desktop, by the hour, teaching me as we go. Especially need to learn how to use the Slider function... and the slide show. last person I worked with did it for me, and now I have no idea how to change it up or tweak it.

I plan to blog regularly with it, so I really want to fix the blog page to be a mosaic or something... as well as use it for main site for my work.

Need to add event calendar, fancy up the blog page, fix the menu bar so it doesn't put drop-downs into the header. And add calls to action- ie, like from pop-up alley... And SEO updates and lessons.
