Description
Experience Level: Expert
General information for the website: Ecommerce site for home improvement products
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Num. of web pages/modules: 1
Description of requirements/features: This job is to fix a bug with our drop ship function — see "Origin Zip Code" below. Please read below to understand the background on this project and an explanation of future work after completion of this job.
I have a website using Joomla! and EShop with a custom shipping solution that handles the following shipping methods…
- Flat Rate (custom)
- Free Shipping (EShop plugin with customizations)
- USPS Shipping (EShop plugin)
- UPS (EShop plugin)
- FreightQuote (custom)
- In-Store Pickup (custom)
There are also several custom Shipping Options…
- Handling Fee
- Origin Zip Code (allows drop shipping from address other than store)
- Freight Class (overrides FreightQuote settings)
- Minimum For Free Shipping (works with Free Shipping to set cart value required for free shipping)
- Flat Rate Minimum Amount (works with Flat Rate to set cart value required for flat rate shipping)
- Flat Rate Fee (works with Flat Rate to set flat rate fee)
All Shipping Methods and Shipping Options can be set at the category level and at the product level. When set at the Category level, the settings apply to all subcategories and products. When set at the Product level, the settings override the Category settings.
The final function is that when any items in the cart have a conflicting Shipping Method or Shipping Option, the cart creates separate shipments.
The developer who built this for me has disappeared and left several bugs. There are also some things he left that do not work as well as they should.
Extra services needed: Customization
Specific technologies required: PHP, JavaScript, MySQL
Extra notes: My priority right now is the "Origin Zip Code" function. It is supposed to override the primary "ship from" zip code when a new value is set on any Category or Product. It was working, but is not now and we don't know why it stopped working. I need to get this fixed ASAP. My next project will be to rework the entire project to fix all bugs and several functions that were not done in the best way. So, doing a great job on this small task will lead to a much larger project.
