Description
Experience Level: Expert
I run a small photography/video business and have put together my own site using Wix that is not working for me and I need some professional help with transferring it to a better design and also into Wordpress format.
The reason for wanting a Wordpress site is that although I developed the current site with Wix (and have >1 yr left in the current hosting subscription) my email provider has moved me to a platform where I could have the site hosted within my monthly cost with them rather than paying Wix seperately and their platform uses Wordpress.
My problem is the scope of content and how best to present it quickly and grab attention within the few seconds a viewer tends to spend before moving on. My photography isn't just in one nice, easy subject area - like portraits or weddings or landscapes - it's business and commercial (mainly construction/industrial), but also staff portraits, conferences, architectural work and PR. My video work is mainly construction/infrastructure related and I have a basic show reel but again, how would you present that on the same home page as photography?
I appreciate that the 'simple' answer would be to have two different sites and that might have to be the solution but before going down that route I am keen to see if this can be presented effectively in one site. Whereas one viewer may be grabbed by the constuction imagery another might only be after conference coverage or recording an interview so a single, large headline image for one or other of these (as most websites use) could lose potential customers straight away. I have struggled with how to get round this for ages and so some proper assistance and new ideas would be the only route forward.
My current site is fluidcomms.co.uk (I am not a web designer!) and the current 'design' is just to get as much on the home page as possible with changing images and video content to attract attention. I am looking for creative solutions rather than the usual 'one big picture' approach used by photography sites usually (unless that can be shown to work effectively with the video content and the scope of different imagery I am tring to project quickly).
Thanks and look forward to any proposals.
