Description
Experience Level: Entry
I'm looking for an excel expert to write a query/macro or similar to produce a specific set of complex actions in excel. I will attempt to explain what we need as follows;
One excel sheet will be the reference sheet (1) which will have a list of contacts including firstname, lastname, company name, email address.
the second excel sheet will be the active sheet (2) it will have a list of contacts including firstname, lastname, company name.
The macro will need to perform the following functions;
1. look at the company name in sheet 2 search for a match in sheet 1
2. when it finds a match look at the format for the email address in sheet 1 eg firstname.surname@***.com
3. create the email address in sheet 2 using the available firstname/lastname and the format and @***.com from sheet 1
it will also need to cope with other email formats eg initial.lastname@ etc
hopefully that makes sense, let me know if you have any queries.
thanks

Are you able to share the spreadsheets or some sample data to show what can be done please. Also if you could expand a bit more on what the ultimate goal of this action is to achieve may help. Are you looking to then email to these people in which case a mail merge solution combined with word may be more beneficial.
