Description
Experience Level: Expert
General information for the business: We search properties for people
Kind of development: New program from scratch
Description of requirements/functionality: I've started a company called EasyPeasyRenting (EPR) that aims to make the property search process as easy as possible for people moving to London for the first time. All consumers have to do is fill in a short questionnaire (ask me for details) and we then try to tell you the 3 most suitable locations for you and the 5 most suitable properties in each of those locations. Therefore, the search function really has two parts:
1) Location search - deciding where the best areas for them to live are based on things such as work address, preferred mode of commute, other areas they visit regularly etc.
2) Property search - deciding which type of property or room is convenient and appropriate for the customer. This is based on a range of information on things such as, desired size of bedroom, importance of communal living space, preferences on flatmates etc.
At the moment I am searching manually whenever customers fill in the questionnaire using existing property search engines such as Zoopla / Rightmove / Spareroom / Gumtree. I am not a techie and so do not know what is possible to automate but imagine the location side of things should be fairly easy...?
In terms of the property search the ideal solution would be to be able to automatically scan across these different property databases and pull down options in the format I stated above. Ideally the system would just be able to pull down across these databases based purely on the information provided on their websites. Please get in touch if you are interested and want to know more / discuss your initial thoughts.
