Description of requirements/functionality: We manufacture hot water cylinders and I want to implement a database system for tracking our products as they move through our production line and different processes until they are eventually dispatched, along with logging returned products which require repairs/restocking etc.
Our plan is to issue Android smart phones to our production staff connected to a wifi network with access to the database system. We will then issue a unique QR code with each product for the employee to scan when they start their process and scan again when they finish the task.
I want to use the data gathered in the database to create reports on what each member of staff completed each day/week ie time sheets. How long it takes to manufacture a product in total, how many man hours are spent working on a product, how long a wait there is between starting one process and finishing another and also for updating customers on the progress of their order without having to do this by physically going to the shop floor to find it in production.
The information uploading needs to be carried out in real time as products some can be made within a couple of hours whereas the most take one to two weeks.
My idea is for the employee to be logged into the online database all day on the phone. When they receive a product to work on they will select whether they want to preform an operation or just read the code. If they want to perform an operation they will select it from a list then scan the code to tell the database they have started carrying out that process on that product, they will then need to scan the code again to tell the system they have finished working on that process and product so that they can begin doing something else.
Every finished product will have a QR code on the product data label so if a product is ever returned for whatever reason we want to be able to scan it back into the factory so we can trace whether it has been received. The employee will then scan to say they are working on repairing the product and scan again to tell the system they have completed.
I will draw up an idea for a dashboard with all of the links I think will be required and the reports required upon appointing a developer.
This will be an ongoing process of development, testing and improvement of the system.
I have no real preference on what platform the system is developed as long as the interface and functionality are simple and easy to use.
We would require a developers hand book to be created in case future improvements are required and the original developer is no longer contactable.
Please could you explain how you interpret the project with your proposal or ask further questions as I've had issues with appointing people in the past who had the skills to complete but didn't fully understand what I am trying to achieve.
CMS and Admin requirements: We will want the ability to add new employees and processes to the system ourselves. We want to be able to view and print reports on different aspects which I will clarify during the process.

Will you only want an android front end or also a web based front end for desktop users? As you see this as an ongoing project, do you want a quote for the full works? Can you tell me where you are based?
Do you have any specific technology preference ?
Do you want to see a DEMO of similar kind of CRM?
Please check my proposal it is from Dharmesh K and i have suggested the development approach and am open for the POC -Proof of concept .
I look forward to your reply.
I have worked in a industrial company where I build software to manage the whole process, controlled robot arms, scanning, transferring data from one unit of process to another up to 3 units at large scale, multi language, multiconfiguration... way too much for your demand but I understand your requirement however...What is your budget? ETA? in house hosted application and/or web hosted application? many questions....
