Description
Experience Level: Expert
I'm looking to build a file manager for windows in Node.JS that will allow manipulation of PDF files. In short, it should allow one to view and manipulation PDF files in thumbnail view. Specifically, it should function like a program called Paperport, which allows on to stack (combine) and unstack (separate) files in thumbnail.
This program will integrate with a larger web application used to document clinical encounters in a medical office. This application will be a web application. It's my understanding that node.js installs execution files on the user's local machine. Thus, this should allow one to manipulate local files on the machine (and thus serve as a file manager). We could then use the same software to serve as the documentation tool for medical encounters (the web application).
There are changes coming in the requirements for documenting medical encounters and these have yet to be finalized. Thus, I want to start with the file manager. Yet again is should integrate with the larger program ultimately.
I have already developed the documentation tool as a web application in CakePHP but those who have reviewed the code note it's very poorly written, so much that it's not fixable. And currently it's so buggy it's not usable. So my thoughts were to rewrite in node.js. The current documentation tool is hosted on AWS and could be used for reference. I also have the code for this project.
The documentation tool has been an ongoing project for many years and I've had many developers attempt and fail. The current project, however, has progressed further than any others in terms of functionality. I've wasted a lot of time and money on this project so I am very skeptical of the abilities of most developers to complete this project. Starting with the file manager will allow essentially a trial to see if we are mutually compatible and can work together. It will thus give me some idea as to whether the chosen developer can complete these two projects.
This will be an ongoing project and I'm looking for a long term partner. The documentation tool involves creating a charting tool to allow clinician to document clinical encounters, a scheduler, a task manager, and then numerous interfaces that allow communication with other entities. I may not develop all of these, however. Right now the documentation tool will take priority (after the file manager).
If interested please contact me and I can send further project details.
