Seo / inbound links

I've started a new website called www.cottoncreates.com. Over the next few months I will be adding more products. What I would like is for someone to advise me how I can improve the SEO myself. I've tried to optimise the content and have named the images, added meta tags etc, but it can all be better. Obviously I want to appear higher in the natural search rankings but I know this will be a challenge. Images appearing are more important to me due to the nature of the product. For example, if you type in 'upcycled bedside table' and look in images, you will see one of my images about number 7. Last week this was number 3 and appeared in the natural search. However I have no idea why as all the images for that product are named the same. And basically I want more of that and for someone to advise how I do that,and optimise this type of thing.

I'm also potentially looking for someone to increase inbound links to the sites.
