Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
I need somebody to set up interviews for me. The interviews are for a video which will, in part, explore how the pharmaceutical industry opposes natural medicine, complementary medicine, and prevention-oriented healthcare—healthcare that does not involve buying the products and services of the industrial medical industrial complex: pills, surgery, office visits and hospital visits.
For background, let me explain that there are many scholarly articles and books published on the nefarious business practices of the pharmaceutical industry. My focus is on how the pharmaceutical industry ignores, or actively opposes and lobbies against what is called "natural medicine," "complementary medicine," or "behavioral [non-medical] intervention."
So… I need someone who can go on the Internet and find the authors, organizations, individuals, scientists, scholars and journalists who are speaking out against the pharmaceutical industry in this regard – and I want you to arrange for me to interview them via Skype. To that end, I will need you to get them to call me on my cell phone (I will provide my cell phone number to the person I will hire for this job)—or respond via email (to be supplied).
I will provide a generic interview-soliciting email that I want you to send them. The generic email will read:
“[my name], an independent documentary filmmaker, would like to interview you via Skype regarding your views of the pharmaceutical industry and its relationship to complementary medicine. Here are the questions that he has prepared:
What are the attitudes of the pharmaceutical companies toward prevention-oriented healthcare modalities that reduce the patient's need for doctor visits, prescription medicine, and hospital visits?
What behavior have you observed in the behavior of the pharmaceutical industry in terms of lobbying, publications and public relations that is shown to be fighting against complementary medicine/natural medicine/behavioral medicine?
If there are problems created for the public by this behavior, what might those problems be?
What do you feel is the motivation of big Pharma and the medical industrial complex and how does that motivation interact with the ideals of science?
What is their behavior towards proponents of "mind-body medicine?” Diet and exercise? Yoga? Meditation? Supplements? Acupuncture? Chiropractic?
If you would like to be interviewed, you may respond to to him at the following email [to be provided] and/or contact him directly at [to be provided].
Thank you for your time and for fighting the good fight.
[Your name]
Assistant to the Producer
[End of email]
If you are hired, you will be hired initially on a trial basis to see what you can accomplish, which means to see how precise your internet research is in matching the needs of the interview and how carefully you document and communicate with me your choice of the people that you approached that contact me.
Understandably, you may have further questions on this mission and I'm happy to respond to those questions. For what it's worth, this is a non-profit venture and the documentary film that will be created will be given away to the world free. It is for a good cause. Thank you for your time.
