We're launching a new games publisher. Based around titles that pack an emotional punch, and appeal to a new type of gamer: one we're deeming Smart Casual.
We want you help understanding the size and behaviours of audiences playing games that are not hardcore - but not Candy Crush, either. Narrative adventures, Animal-Crossing likes. People who may not have time for large AAA console titles, don't want to get hooked on F2P - but are seeking a diversion, something compelling, an emotive story, or somewhere nice to be.
This might be lapsed gamers returning; hardcore gamers with less time. It might be the partner who's borrowed her boyfriend's Switch and hasn't given it back yet - or the person more interested in playing Animal Crossing or Firewatch than making deep friendships or competing online.
We want to investigate the market, its scale and potential - and the patterns in this 'less hardcore' games segment, across all platforms. We want to investigate the ratio of hits vs misses, and estimate the costs involved to plan a robust first 3 years.
We have big plans - and you will be a key part of this journey.
