EVENT:
Population Matters (www.populationmatters.org) is organising a hybrid online/physical conference in London on 14 May 2021, on economics and population. The event as currently planned will have up to 100 physical attendees and 300 online, using the Glisser conference platform. There is, however, flexibility for increasing numbers or changing balance as the coronavirus situation dictates. The conference will include 6 speakers and a panel discussion with additional speakers. Some are expected to be physically present, others appearing online. The event will be high profile and audience will include influencers, academics and policymakers. We seek professional help to manage the planning and logistics of the event.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Track invitations to speakers and replies
- Coordinate logistics for speakers
- Liaise with venue over arrangements, including AV provision
- Liaise with online conference platform providers
- Organise stage dressing (lectern, branding boards etc)
- Organise and track invitations to stakeholders to attend as audience members
- Work with venue and PM team to organise online and physical registration
- Work with Head of Campaigns & Communications to arrange advertising and publicity
- Manage event on the day
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Experience of organising events, ideally with online component
- Reliable

REPORTING TO
Head of Campaigns and Communications
Liaising with other staff members, including Head of Supporter Services
Population Matters is a virtual organisation with no central office. The HoCC is based in Brighton. Most meetings will take place by phone/Skype but face-to-face meetings in London (or mutually convenient location) may take place as needed, as coronavirus situation allows. Travel to London to prepare for the event and on the day itself will be essential.
We estimate up to 60 hours work in total, but requirements to be discussed with candidates.
