Description
Experience Level: Expert
We are a small design firm based in southern California.
Our start-up company is launching a new consumer product in the next few months.
To familiarize potential buyers with the product, we want to create a simple and free iPhone app which will have a 3D representation of the product (Model will be provided). The product is made of 6 separate pieces that are connected to one another sequentially, and each piece has one degree of freedom with respect the next piece it is connected to.
What we expect from the App as a minimum:
- The app user may manipulate (move) the assembly of the product in the 3D environment by tactile inputs.
- The user may manipulate each piece with respect to the complete assembly. (possibly using two fingers, one to hold the assembly and the other to move the target piece)
- While manipulated by the user, the pieces in the 3D model should snap into place when approaching the vicinity of the intended location.
- Certain pieces should simulate flexibility while being moved to different position, for more realism. (this would be a plus).
- The user may browse for various possible colours and models of the product.
- The user can order the product (preferably as an "in app" purchase, with the shipping address already pre-filled from the iTunes account information, or alternately launching the browser to the purchasing page of the product website)
An eCommerce website would also be required to work alongside the App.
What we expect from the eCommerce website as a minimum:
- A clean, simple and intuitive to user interface. (Main graphics will be provided)
- A section for user reviews, and suggestions for future products (selectable from a drop-down list).
- Capability to process orders, from Amazon Payments, PayPal, or credit cards.
- If logistically possible, capability to accept orders from "in-app" purchases, linked to the App-user's iTunes account.
- Alternatively, the eCommerce website may be made in-house by our company using eCommerce solution websites such as Volusion.
