Market Research using Keyword Planner, Average Sales Prices
We have market research indicating the size of the US market for various vehicle modifications & add ons. However, the research does not break this down to make and model. We are attempting to quanitify this breakdown with google keywords data. The bulk of the work is searching for products in a given market, testing various keywords and finding the most representative keywords for that vehicle, and documenting that.
I would like to get this done in 15 days or so. I need first update on Wednesday and next in mid week.
I created a very brief primer on each of these performance upgrade types, to give some slight background information. This is important because it takes some testing to find which keywords are popular in each vehicle type. For example, one group of owners may be calling their intake systems "cold air intakes" while another group may use "intakes" mostly. It takes a little testing I found. (Intakes, cold air intakes, turbo inlet upgrade, etc). I worked through some on the "Intakes" tab.
On the attached sheet there is a tab for each broad category of upgrades. We really are looking for broad right now, as we're essentially working to determine where the best fits are on a vehicle make and model basis. We would drill into exactly what parts to make at a later date.
I want to capture the search volume average for the last 12 months, the cost to get to top of page (try to capture how competitive the market is), and a quick average price of the premium / name-brand items which show up on google shopping for that type of upgrade.
The general idea is to work back through the number of people searching x some conversion rate x average sale price to arrive at at least a comparative measurement of market price and competitiveness.
