Description
1) Who I am / what this is
I’m Shaun Jardine. I run two complementary brands in the legal sector:
• Big Yellow Penguin (BYP) – value-based pricing training/consulting for law firms: http://www.bigyellowpenguin.co.uk This website is in the process of being updated.
• Legal GiGZ (GiGZ) – a directory/platform for legal conferences, speakers and suppliers: http://www.legalgigz.com
I’m looking for a practical social/email marketing manager to help me create consistency, improve quality, and build repeatable systems.

2) The immediate priority (Phase 1): Email newsletters in Mailchimp
Goal: establish a reliable newsletter engine for both brands (format, workflow, cadence, and performance tracking).
Cadence
• BYP: one newsletter every 6–8 weeks. The newsletter is called Tip Of The Iceberg
• GiGZ: one newsletter roughly every 3 weeks. The newsletter is called GiGZ Gazette
Current state
• BYP: Mailchimp template already exists + some Canva artwork/assets
• GiGZ: logo exists; no Mailchimp template yet and limited creative assets
What I need you to do
• Create/refresh newsletter structure and sections (especially for GiGZ). I will supply the content in a Word document.
• Build or refine Mailchimp template for LegalGigz newsletter (mobile-friendly, on-brand, easy to reuse)
• Light editing to sharpen clarity, CTA, and flow (using my content)
• Set up a repeatable production workflow: content intake → draft → design → review → send
• Basic reporting after each send (open rate, clicks, top links, list growth) + suggestions
What “good” looks like
• Newsletters go out on time without drama
• Layout is consistent and professional
• Clear CTAs and measurable engagement
• I’m not reinventing the wheel each time

3) Secondary priority (Phase 2): Social media tidy-up (after Phase 1 is running)
Channels (current focus)
• Legal GiGZ: Instagram, Bluesky, X (currently inconsistent / low quality)
• BYP: light support as needed, aligned with newsletter themes
What I need
• Someone with demonstrable skills using Mailchimp.
• A simple, repeatable content approach: “newsletter → socials” repurposing
• Basic content calendar and posting rhythm (realistic and sustainable)
• Canva-based templates for posts (branded, consistent, quick to produce)
• Copywriting that fits platform tone and drives traffic back to site/newsletter

4) Inputs I will provide
• Links to both websites and brand context
• Access to Mailchimp (and current BYP template)
• Access to existing BYP Canva assets + logos
• Raw content: notes, links, event/speaker/supplier highlights, announcements
• Examples of prior newsletters (posted on my LinkedIn profile)

5) Deliverables (first 4–6 weeks)
Week 1–2
• Quick audit of current BYP Mailchimp template + improvements
• Build GiGZ Mailchimp template (sections + reusable layout)
• Create a simple newsletter workflow + checklist (so nothing is missed)
Week 3–6
• Send at least one GiGZ newsletter
• Prepare BYP newsletter draft when next due (or create a ready-to-go issue framework)
• Set up basic tracking/reporting + a lightweight “what to improve next time” note

6) Skills I’m looking for
• Mailchimp template build + newsletter production. I will want to take up references.
• Strong editing/copy skills (B2B tone, clear CTAs)
• Canva design (simple, consistent brand templates)
• Organised project handling (deadlines, checklists, version control)
• Bonus: experience marketing to legal / professional services audiences
