Description
Experience Level: Expert
Industry: Healthcare
Kind of design: Custom website
Description of every page: We would like a brand new design created for our existing website, matrixseating.com
We are looking for someone who can create an original, unique, creative design so that we can leapfrog our competitors websites.
I have provided links to some sites that showcase great designs. Unfortunately, we don't know precisely what we want a new design to look like. We can highlight some overall points about our products that we want to get across, along with some of the key images, but beyond that we’re relying on the designer to know what would look good and to have some creative ideas for how to proceed.
Our idea is that the designer could first create a couple of substantially different designs for large screens, which we could then discuss and choose between or ask that the designs be combined in some way. Then we could review the final design for large screens before the designer could create designs for two smaller size screens. I will be using Bootstrap 4 to assist with the coding, which has five breakpoints. My idea is to have one design/layout for the extra small size, one for the small and medium sizes, and one for the large and extra large sizes. I could provide all the screen measurements in pixels.
We specifically do not want someone to do the coding as well, for a number of reasons: first, we have a limited budget plus I can do the coding, so we want all our budget for the task of creating a new site to go on the visual design; second, the person will then get distracted by getting the site to work rather than coming up with a creative design; and third, the person will probably end up using a template or at least parts of a template which won't give us the innovative design that we’re after (plus I will then have to deal with thousands of lines of extra code).
For the new site we want to have a simpler main menu. It’s important that you ignore the main menu that is on most of the site and just look at the menu on the following page:
https://www.matrixseating.com/matrix-order-assistant-form.php
Also, I have just quickly thrown together this new menu in design terms so it’s really only the structure that matters. Again, you must ignore the blue menu otherwise, apart from anything else, I will get in trouble!
We are going to need to do a fair bit of communicating with the designer, probably mostly through messages sent on this site but also maybe we could Skype or even talk on the phone.
One issue will be what to do about the animation on the Home page. We got it designed by someone on this site only a few months ago or so and we think it’s very good, so of course we want people to be able to see it. But whether it would be better as the background on another page or used in some other way can be part of the discussion. I'm almost certain that we wouldn't want it to be part of the design for small screens.
Our budget for this job is roughly £500 to £700, but any sensible offer will be seriously considered. It may be the case that we need one design for the Home page and one for every other page, so that should be factored into your proposal, although I doubt that we would want the Home page design to look overly different from the rest of the site.
To end this essay which I've just written, we’re not going to be making any decisions on this job for at least two weeks so please don’t rush to put in a proposal.
Thanks,
Matthew
