Description
Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
I'm looking for a freelance email designer to create marketing email designs on an ongoing basis for a retail furniture & game room company that I work with.
Looking for someone with an upscale, modern aesthetic with a touch of fun and humor, but always family friendly and happy feel. We are not a "always on sale" flash furniture site, but rather looking for the Crate & Barrel, Restoration Hardware, Room & Board aesthetic with a focus on creating spaces in the home for making family memories.
I am a freelance web & graphic designer for this company, and do everything from web design to print ads to social media. The volume of marketing emails has made it difficult for me to find time to work on other projects. So I am looking to outsource this part of my job.
Each month, I would give you the list of Subject Lines and products, themes, promotions or categories we want to promote for each. I would provide examples of emails we have done in the past along with the general aesthetic we are trying to convey. (I have a HUGE library of examples of things we like, so you would have no shortage of ideas to pull from - plus the last 2 years of emails that we have already done.) I would also provide a library of product imagery and lifestyle imagery that you can use. From there you would create roughly 3-5 email designs a week and send them to me at least a week before they are due.
About you: You are on time, self directed, and don't need a lot of reminding or follow up. You are happy to receive my feedback and make small adjustments to each design as necessary. (I might ask you to move a section to the top, add a logo or promotional verbiage, swap out a photo, or ask for a different look & feel to convey a different message to the consumer.) The ability to communicate easily in English will be important. Email communication is fine, but we can also call or Skype or whatever you prefer. I would like to see examples of your previous work - either a portfolio or several examples of email designs you have created.
No HTML or image processing necessary - I only want the PSD file of your design. I will cut up the image and handle the links and alt tags and install into our email marketing program myself. I use all the most recent Adobe products on a PC. If you are on a mac that's fine, but you need to figure out how to send me something I can open.
Also, you would be working directly for me, and would be paid by me, not by the company itself. (Although I would be transparent with them that I am outsourcing this task.) If you are in the U.S., 1099's would be sent each year.
I reserve the right to terminate this opportunity at any time, should the overall design aesthetic not be heading the direction I want, or if the work is not sent in a timely manner. Or, if the company stops working with me, yikes! But I have been with them a long time.
Feel free to email me to ask any questions. I would likely have you work on a couple of test projects to make sure we work well together before I commit to something long term. Thanks for your consideration!
