A small design firm located in Long Beach, CA is seeking a LOCAL entry-level Product Designer (Industrial Designer) to collaborate on existing and upcoming projects.
Our clientele mainly consists of inventors and small businesses, and projects are often varied and unique. Ideal candidates will be able to work on a wide variety of projects through multiple phases of the design process.
This is a freelance 1099 consulting position with an anticipated work load of 20 hours per week.
Requirements:
• The design consultant is expected to use their own personal equipment to complete projects/assignments, including computer and software.
• Work will be done both on-site and from home. Ideal candidates will be local to the Long Beach/North OC/South Bay area
• Some daytime availability is required for meetings, correspondence, and on-site work.
• The ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills. Turnaround times are crucial - work must be completed within the timeframes agreed upon. Most work is expected to be completed within 24 to 48 hours.
Qualifications:
• Degree in Industrial Design, Design Engineering, or previous ID internship
• 0 – 2 years professional experience working as an Industrial Designer
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, Keyshot, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
• Sketching / ideation and visual communication skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
• Self-motivated and independent worker
• Have a sense of humor
• Prototyping skills, knowledge or hardware/fasteners/screws, or mechanical design aptitude preferred but not required.
Please be located in the Los Angeles or Orange County area, within a reasonable distance to work on-site 1-3 days/week.
