Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
Type of logo: Character
Brand name/slogan in logo: Town Voice
Ideas for the visual style: Simple, Slick, Community Focused
Things to avoid: Anything that looks old fashioned; i.e. Outdated 'Town Crier' image (unless made modern somehow)
Where the design will be used: Website + Social Media Mainly
Extra notes: I am setting up a community network of websites which are focused entirely on the "community" of that town.
The website is completely tied in to social media with Facebook being our key driver. We encourage users to send us questions and feedback on the town and we put it up on the website and then link it out via Social Media. But we also offer things like Job Listings, Business Directory, Event listings on the main website itself to share local business information (we don't want the logo to be business emphasised though).
The branding needs to be around that Community spirit, sharing of ideas, coming together; that kind of thing
We just need an 'edgy' logo for each of the websites. Whilst we want to incorporate a standard Town Voice logo; we also want the ability to add / overlay a font to make it unique to that town. For example, northampton town voice, bedford town voice (you get the idea).
We want the logo to be 'simple' rather than busy. We would like it to have an image to represent us along side the text branding
You can view some of our websites from our main site: townvoice . co . uk
We've been playing around with ideas such as Lips (but it started looking a bit like an adult website); as well as potentially something like a good text logo with some houses / community sprouting out of the words.
Whilst we have added the brand name as Town Voice, as I said, we need to have some way to make this dynamic and be able to add our own text (hopefully using a recommended font which you can advise us on) for that specific town above/below/beside the logo that you design.
We don't want the logo to appear 'formal' / governmental. We had played around with the idea of a 'Town Crier Boy' but it didn't have the modern feel that we wanted to it.
