Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
Information for the business: The group has both visually impaired and blind members
Type of logo: Word mark, Letter form, Abstract mark, Pictorial mark, Emblem
Brand name/slogan in logo: Socialeyes - The Burnley & Pendle Visually Impaired People's Group
Number of revisions: Unlimited
Ideas for the visual style: Bold, thick lines, very clear
Things to avoid: An overly complex logo as it needs to appeal to visually impaired people.
Preferred colors: No more than three colours and no very light colours on the outside that would clash with white backgrounds.
Where the design will be used: Print to begin with, but also to be used on a website and social media at a later date.
Extra notes: The group is a not-for-profit organisation that enables both blind and visually impaired/partially sighted people to meet once a week in a central location and have fun, socialise and go out on activity days as a group of like-minded and similarly afflicted people. I'm working for the group on a voluntary basis as a marketing executive and I'm in the process of redesigning the brand. The current logo used by the group is attached. This logo is fine, but has been ripped off from another organisation as indeed many other similar organisations have too. I need to create a unique identity for the group. I'm prepared to give the chosen person creative and artistic licence to create the logo, but the logo must represent what the group does.
The group allows blind and visually impaired people to meet and share experiences and information, socialise, go on day trips out, become socially integrated, become active and outgoing again with both indoor and outdoor activities, meet new people and have a sense of belonging they otherwise may not get elsewhere in their lives. The group aims to appeal to younger people than its current members however this predominantly means people who are in their thirties rather than teenagers and twenty-somethings.
I need at least 3 logos that differ greatly from one another to put to the group so they can choose which they feel is the most appropriate. Please bear in mind that this logo will need to appeal to people that have difficulty seeing, but I don't want something that is entirely safe, plain and boring.
Ideally I would like to see past examples of your work especially if you have done work of a similar nature before. Please provide me with an outline of how you see the logos so that I can assess the most suitable person for the work. Furthermore the chosen person will likely receive a request shortly after the completion of the logo for further works required for the project. Additionally the quicker the turn-around the better.
