Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I manage a wedding band in Scotland.
We already have a logo, which is established with my market base, and has been central to our brand identity in the last few years, so I don\'t want a completely new one. But I am rebuilding my website, and I would like to have the logo re-created in a variety of modern and attractive ways, for a variety of purposes.
What I am hoping to receive is images in a number of styles at the resolutions/formats appropriate for:
(wordpress) website homepage (with transparent background where appropriate)
website icons (see attached screen shot of new website)
website background images/watermarks
letterheads/email letterheads
keyrings
t-shirts and other merchandise
bass-drum skins (e.g. 20\" diameter)
print marketing
I recognise that the logo is not aesthetically perfect, so I would consider suggestions for minor modifications to improve things like symmetry/balance, if any are to be made. The text/font of the band name is to remain the same. I can email the font used if required. Web address is an important feature of the logo on e.g. merchandise.
I would hope to see examples of previous work from all interested parties, especially in the particular field of logo design.
TARGET MARKET
My target market is primarily wedding clients (male and female, 20-35 age group), but we also have a broader base than this which includes people in the 35-50 and 50-65 market, who we don\'t want to alienate.
BRANDING AIMS
We are seeking to establish a genuine fan-base and reputation apart from simply being a \"band-for-hire\". We\'re up-front about the fact that we play weddings, but we don\'t see the point in limiting people to thinking of us as no more than a wedding band.
We are also aiming to project an image which balances:
veteran and skilled
authentic and grounded in folk tradition, but not stuffy
dependable and friendly
light-hearted and fun
Cool, but not faddy: unapologetic about who we are.
I realise that some of these are almost polar opposites, but I feel that as long as the core logo remains the \"classic\" look which people can interpret for themselves, then we will benefit from having a few arty representations of the logo, to provide some *class*, attractive *eye-candy* and to demonstrate our *brand versatility* in appropriate places.
I designed the current logo myself on amateur software (PSP), but I simply don\'t have the time to experiment with getting these things right for moving on with the website. When I see articles like this one:
http://3nhanced.com/photoshop/how-to-make-a-badass-wordpress-logo/
I get an idea of just one of the things I\'d like to see done with my own logo.
BUDGET
I do not have a budget set in stone for this, but if your quote is likely to be more than £300 I would have to be incredibly impressed with your proposal to justify the cost.
If you just have time to do e.g. one logo to sell to me, I\'m interested to see what you\'ve got, but I would want to see the draft versions before deciding whether to buy it from you. I don\'t have a lot of money for this project, but for those of you who can take an image and make it glamorous without spending a week on it, maybe this project is for you.
I am also happy to do a blog feature on the new website highlighting the work of the successful applicant.
