Description
Experience Level: Expert
Brief: Develop a visual identity with guidelines, logo, pop-up banner, and template flyer and poster for the ‘Mindful World: Connected Conference.
The brief:
Design a logo, pop-up banner, flyer and poster that establishes this new conference property and which can be used in subsequent years. Deliver full branding guidelines to include colours, logo, b&w versions, font choice etc for the conference, and print-ready files for the pop-up banner and poster. Deadline: 12 October 2018
Background:
In March 2019, Mindful World: Connected Conference, the first international, live-streamed and networked conference on mindfulness, will take place across sites in the UK, Ireland, and South Africa. Delegates will share the experience of meditating together and listening to keynote talks from eminent speakers on mindfulness, scientific research, and policy, including ‘the grandfather’ of western training programmes, Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn. Conference attendees at local sites across the UK, Ireland and South Africa and will join each other through live transmission of talks and guided meditation.
The networked nature of the conference will allow for increased attendance and inclusivity, with attendees in the UK accessing talks from top level presenters without incurring the cost of travel to South Africa. Delegates will also take part from sites in smaller and less affluent areas across South Africa. Local speakers at each site will contribute in between streamed ‘keynotes’.
This new conference property is hoped to be the first of biannual events. It is important we establish a distinctive look for the logo, banner and poster that communicate our values of high calibre discussion, shared practice, international connection and inclusivity. The pop-up banner will be placed by the speakers across the sites and visible during the live streaming, and will give a clear feel that each local speaker is part of the same conference. As such, we need to think about having a bold colour that immediately associates each site’s livestream or recorded content when placed in the periphery.
What this is about:
High calibre, world class presenters
Discussion of science, theory and practice of mindfulness training
Implications for public policy & society
Addressing the world’s most pressing problems by training hearts and minds
International discussion for a more connected and harmonious society
Facilitating local connection, on a global scale
Shared mindfulness practice
Using digital technology and psychological technology to unite humanity
Diversity, inclusivity and accessibility
Experimental, unknown, open
What this isn’t about:
Sunsets, waves, waterfalls, mountains, wind-chimes, piles of stones, people sitting cross legged, crystals, candles (in other words, woo), ‘Zen’ or Buddhist imagery, other religious imagery, elitist, globalist, top-down or profit driven.
Further Guidelines:
Can’t be too close to existing conference / partner organisation properties:

Hi Jamie
Would love to help with this project, we specialise in Conference and Exhibition designs.
The budget you have set is rather small for what is required.
Is there an overall budget?
Thanks
Jason
