Transformation of pic into design

The attached picture is a medieval design which appears on many Byzantine rural churches in Crete. We want to use a stylized version of this a logo for a series of books and other publications about those churches. The design should omit all visible elements outside the circle of dots as sign on the picture, and remove the backgroun. It should keep the 3D appearance of the dots, lines, crosses etc in the design and be presented on an attractive background gradient consisting of the ancient Byzantine official colours of ochre and brick red. We need this in a SVG format.
