Hello,
My name is Anna and I am looking for someone to design an infographic fact sheet for UK students aged 11-16. I am looking for some graphics that bring to life some facts about the harms that the tobacco industry inflicts on society. I would like to include the following facts/pieces of information.
• The Tobacco industry eventually kills 50% of its customers.
•
• The tobacco industry traps tobacco farmers in poverty. Many tobacco farmers are often forced to sell their crops at a fixed low price.
• More than 200,000 hectares of forest are removed for growing tobacco mainly in poor countries.
• The tobacco industry exploits the people that pick the tobacco it sells. People are often forced to work in slave like conditions in America, Asia and Africa.
• The tobacco industry makes billions from using child labour. In Malawi alone 80,000 children as young as five pick tobacco for 12 hours a day and earn extremely low (12 pence per day) or no pay.
•Tobacco companies view vulnerable populations as market opportunities not as human beings.
•Big tobacco companies intimidate and bullies some of the world’s poorest countries when they try to introduce anti-smoking legislation.
•The tobacco industry aggressively seeks and targets new young smokers. They place their products in computer games, films and music videos.
•In Malawi 80,000 children as young as five pick tobacco for 12 hours a day for little or no money. Many suffer from green tobacco sickness.
