I have a few drawings that I tried to scan and use in a book but the resolution is really bad. I need to have them in vector form (Illustrator) so I can manage them better. I'm not sure if we need to have them traced.

    If you want the illustrations to have more resolution, yes, they must be vectorized (or scanned with more resolution).
    If you want them to be vectorized, you will lose a part the drawing style.
    - To what extent do you want the vector to be "similar" to the original?
    - Do you have an example of the final result you want?
    - How complex are the illustrations? Can you show any more?
    - The attached image, does it have the size and resolution with which to work?

    It is necessary information to calculate work, time and budget.
