Description

Experience Level: Intermediate
We are a small design business in the UK and we are looking for a talented graphic artist who would be able to create similar landscapes designs for us to sell and print to those attached.

The designs would aim to capture the essence of the places we wanted to show. We believe this is a very exciting project and we see this very much as an ongoing job for the person chosen to work with us.

For each chosen location we would provide you with photos to draw inspiration from and we are open to your ideas.

The initial job would be for 5 designs with an eye on many more offered going forward. We would require source files, full copyright for the designs you create for us and a PSD version for text edits and other small changes.

    Am I right in thinking you won't be providing a royalty for these images, because based on the price you won't own the copyright for these images. A designer has to express and sign over copyright... no designer in their right mind would do that for a product that is planned for sale. Sounds to me like the reason you want a newbie is because you know they won't know about copyright law and what they are entitled to request. Fact is they could design these them selves and sell them.

    Hi,
    Many thanks for your reply and we just want to make sure you are happy to create an initial 5 designs similar to the ones shown in our project for an initial £75.00.
    We would following this initial 5 look to increase that amount depending on the work delivered.
    This has the potential to be a on going project as we will be looking for between 2 and 4 designs per month for at least a year.

    Hi Neil thanks for your reply. So just to confirm once more, you are offering £15 for an illustration that you plan to sell in bulk, for profit, and not give the artist any royalties as you will retain the copyright? And you plan to make that an ongoing agreement? I’m going to stick up for us artists here Neil and suggest you may want to rethink your budget. The examples you’ve sent would take in the region of five or six hours of work minimum per design, not including potential amendments that you may request. I do hope you take this into consideration and have a rethink on cost. Kind regards Stew W
