"futurama" / "family guy" style character design for family of 4

Cartoon character creation for use on web and print (invites, cards, etc).

Characters need to playfully, but sympathetically resemble my family (2 adults 2 small children)

Needs to include 4 individual images and a combined graphic, along with text. Prefer vector based. But happy to discuss

Futurama/Family Guy,Garfield is roughly the style of design but again this a pointer really for ideas.
