CHILDREN’S BOOK ILLUSTRATOR & BOOK DESIGNER

Pahari Publishing is an independent publishing project focused on children’s books, cultural storytelling, heritage education, and creative work connected to Jammu, including Bhimber, Kotli, and Mirpur. The aim is to produce warm, educational, and visually engaging books that introduce young children to history, identity, landscape, and cultural memory.

Experience Level: Expert
We are looking to commence the next book in an ongoing illustrated children’s book series and am seeking an experienced illustrator and book designer.

Project Requirements:
• 10x10 inch children’s book layout
• Full front and back cover design
• Interior page layout and pagination
• Placement of supplied text into the book
• Approximately 15 illustrations
• Consistent character design for the main character, Emna
• High-resolution print-ready PDF files, 300 dpi, suitable for professional printing
• Digital-ready PDF files for online distribution and review
• JPEG and PNG versions of the cover and illustrations for promotional and social media use
• Editable source files supplied upon completion and final payment

Book Style:
The books focus on culture, history, landscapes, forts, rivers, and heritage connected to Jammu, including Bhimber, Kotli, and Mirpur.
The illustration style should feel warm, engaging, educational, culturally respectful, and suitable for children aged 5–7 years.

Important:
• The manuscript and creative direction already exist
• This is not a concept-development project
• The successful illustrator should be able to maintain character consistency throughout the book
• Long-term collaboration opportunities may be available for future books in the series
• All communication and payments will remain through PeoplePerHour

An NDA and copyright/IP agreement will be required before full project materials are shared. This agreement will cover ownership, usage rights, confidentiality, source-file delivery, and related project terms.
