BACKGROUND
We are working with the Princess Royal Trust of Carers to raise awareness of young carers among primary school children and the general public.
To do this, we are creating two characters. One boy and one girl. They are two Young Carers.
So far we have done a drawing competition with primary school children from three schools across Scotland.
I have attached the winning drawings.
THE BRIEF
We are know looking for someone who can turn these drawings into two animated characters we can use in comic strips go get over the daily lives of these two Young Carers.
We are open to any style of animation.
The plan is to review any submissions made by the 15th March. The chosen illustrator will then be asked to develop the characters and supply 4-5 poses for each. There will then be a second stage (additional budget) to create the comic strips and possible animated introduction to a documentary.
For the 15th, we would like submissions for character development, these could be samples of the style of you work, but would stand more chance of success if they included drawings/proposals of how you see the character developing.
CHARACTER BACKGROUNDS
To help develop the characters below is a rough outline of them:
Trayc is nine years old. She looks after her mum that has a long term illness which has left her physicall disabled (sometimes needs a wheelchair). Her mother\'s illness leads to bouts of depression which in turn results in drinking. Trayc\'s dad works long shifts. The pressure of his job can also lead him to drink heavily. Trayc has a three year old brother she often has to look after too.
Eryc is 8 years old. He looks after his older brother who has Autism. His brother and subsequently Eyrc are often teased and bullied because of his condition. This leads to Eryc getting involved in fights. Eryc comes from a single parent family. His mother works full time and has a part time job three evenings a week to make ends meet. So, Eryc is often left to do much of the housework, shopping and administering his brother\'s medication.
Eryc & Trayc go to different schools, but met at their local Young Carers centre and have become friends.
This is a great opportunity to help with a very worthwhile cause. If you have any more questions, feel free to get in touch.
