Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Hello,
I am setting up my own company which will have a main company and two subsidiaries - one which is an editorial and copywriting business, one which is a craft and homemade products business. The company is called Softly Softly Creative, so I've chosen to use a monkey as my logo, but I need the following 3 illustrations to help build my business and make it recognisable and appealing:
1. A generic kawai-esque monkey (please see the photograph attached, but no glasses please). It should be obviously a monkey, smiley, happy, and have a lot of personality to engage anyone who sees it. I see humour as being key to making the brand stand out so please bear this in mind also. I'd like it's fur to have texture to it, and it should be swinging from a vine (see attached screenshot). This image will be used on letter headers, business cards and a website (to be swinging in from the right) so please bear this in mind when designing - anything too vertical (like the middle monkey in the example) would not be suitable. It should be a full body shot, with leaves/vines trailing off.
2. The same monkey, this time wearing Dame Edna-style glasses (but not quite as extreme as Dame Edna!) and sat at what is obviously an old-school, vintage typewriter. This is for the editorial/copywriting part of the business and should again be cute (but not sickly), humorous and memorable. Again, this will be used on letter-headers, business cards and eventually a website. This should be a full-body shot which should work if cropped to the torso as well.
3. The same monkey, this time sat at what is obviously a sewing machine. It should be sewing some fabric with a banana pattern on it. Same brief as before - cute, humorous, memorable. Again, this will be used on letter-headers, business cards and eventually a website. This should be a full-body shot which should work if cropped to the torso as well.
I'd like the artwork to be delivered in 300dpi format (preferably a layered PSD file which can then be used in programs such as Illustrator or Photoshop. I would also like the artwork to be delivered in 4 weeks time from today (April 17th) with a 2/3 developmental stages of pencils and colours so I can check that I am happy with how it is progressing and have a chance to feedback before the final artwork is delivered.
In terms of copyright, I would like to own the copyright of the artwork but obviously give a credit to its creator.
Sorry if any of the above is (a) bossy and (b) asking too much! I've never done this before so I apologise if I am widely off the mark in terms of budget or deadlines - I'm not interested in squeezing anyone or taking advantage of people's talents so if you'd be interested in the work but need some flexibility then please feel free to get in touch with examples of your previous work and we can take it from there. As I develop a website as the business grows there may be future opportunity for more work also, as I really see this monkey character as being central to my business and my brand.
Thanks very much,
Pippa
