Description
The project is a new beauty & hair salon in Gloucester. It is a new unit in a local out of town shopping centre.
The building is under construction & will delivered to us as a shell for internal fitment.
The internal partitions are 2.4m high & we would like to construct them from 63mm x 38mm CLS faced with 9.5mm plasterboard with 50mm Rockwell sound insulation mat. Doors to be FD30. ceilings to WC & beauty rooms to be 8mm T & G PVC class 1 ceiling panels. Will need advise as to what is required for building regs.
Please see attached drawings, it is unit 3
Thanks
Andrew

Internal partitions 2.4m height, presumably that is the internal room floor to ceiling height. Internal partition will need to extend to the underside of the soffit, or structural ceiling in order to also provide fire breaks in the ceiling void. Will building sections be made available ?

Please confirm the use of 9.5mm plasterboard, as although 9.5 is available, standard is 12.5mm and if requiring FD30 fire doors, a partition with 9.5mm plasterboard will not pass building regulations requirements for fire compartmentation.
50mm Rockwool on 63 stud may also allow passage of structure borne sound, and 25mm Isover quilt often used as per manufacturers recommendations.
Would also suggest door swing side (hinges) are offset from wall by 100mm nib or similar to stop door handle smashing into wall, and ensuring the disability and fire escape clear width openings are achieved as beauty rooms and others are have no allowance.
WC is shown with internally opening door, which is non compliant for sole toilet door as requires to comply with Part M, open outwards and also layout within room needs to conform to Doc M Pack and achieve the prescribed minimal dimension and spatial requirements. Door opening can be achieved by moving door to adjacent return wall.
Have you been advised by a design professional or is the specification led by a builder, and do you require further advise regarding the proposals or is it a case of merely providing layout plan as sketched.

Do you require the designer y0u select and appoint to be conversant with, and undertake the safety related role and duties of CDM Principal Designer, as defined in the Construction Design & Management Regulations 2015, or have you appointed another party to act in this capacity as there is a mandatory requirement for all construction related activities for a commercial Client to have either formally appointed a CDM-PD otherwise they are deemed the CDM-PD and responsible for the duties and obligations therein and should carry suitable insurances to facilitate.
