Product design engineer needed

Product Design Engineer Needed – Small Flexible Consumer Product / CAD & Prototype

I’m looking for an experienced product design/mechanical engineer to help develop a small flexible consumer product from an existing concept into an initial functional prototype.

The product is a small, preferably one-piece flexible component containing very fine, soft internal features. It also incorporates a flexible split/opening which needs to open temporarily and reliably return to its original shape without permanent deformation.

I’m looking for someone who has experience with:

• Physical consumer product development
• Flexible materials such as TPE, TPU and/or silicone
• Small, fine flexible features
• CAD for manufacture
• Injection-moulded product design / DFM
• Functional prototyping and design iteration

This is not simply a CAD tracing/rendering job. I need someone who can help develop the geometry, material choice and functionality and advise how the design can eventually be manufactured at very low unit cost.

I already have concept visuals and a clear functional brief, but these will only be shared privately after confidentiality has been agreed.

Initial budget: £200–£300.

This budget is for the first development stage only — feasibility/design development, initial CAD and ideally a functional prototype or prototype-ready design. Further development may follow if the concept performs successfully.

Please include examples of any relevant work involving flexible moulded products, TPE/TPU/silicone, fine flexible features or injection-moulded consumer products.

Please also confirm:
• whether you’re happy to work under an NDA/confidentiality agreement;
• what you could deliver within £200–£300;
• whether STEP/STL/source CAD files would be supplied to me;
• whether you have experience designing for injection moulding.
