Preliminary Drawings

I’m looking to connect with an experienced Architectural Technician for ongoing collaboration on preliminary drawing packages. I’m establishing my own boutique studio after many years in practice, and I’m seeking someone I can work with regularly as projects come in.

About Me

I have many years of experience working across:

boutique small developments

residential upgrades and extensions

conservation properties

enforcement‑related projects

I act as the Creative Lead on all schemes and have strong, practical planning knowledge. I prepare and submit all applications to the LPA, meet with Planning Officers and Building Control Inspectors, and manage projects from concept through to approval.

I also work closely with a superb contractor, so my projects typically run seamlessly from concept to completion with a high level of coordination.

Alongside my architectural work, I have a product side to my studio. My website will be live in approximately six weeks, and I’m building a long‑term network of trusted collaborators as the business grows.

What I’m Looking For

For this project — and future ones — I need accurate, beautifully presented preliminary drawings based on a comprehensive design brief. On this occasion, the brief is supported by:

a full written design summary

photos

hand‑drawn measured layouts (it was raining during the survey!)

room dimensions, ceiling heights, window sizes, and structural notes

The information is complete and ready to work from.

Your Role

Produce clear, accurate preliminary layout drawings (plans, sections, elevations as required).

Interpret a detailed brief with minimal back‑and‑forth.

Be familiar with UK Building Regulations and typical domestic construction.

Present drawings to a professional standard suitable for client review and planning preparation.

Provide two rounds of client amendments within the agreed fee.

Deliver in DWG + PDF.

I’m looking for a technician I can work with regularly as my studio grows. Reliability, clarity, and technical accuracy are essential. I will continue to lead on design direction, planning strategy, and all LPA submissions — I simply need a strong technician to translate my briefs into well‑structured preliminary drawing sets.
