Briefing for Course and Print Materials

Perfect Pitch Communications is looking for a desktop publisher / layout specialist. We are launching new courses in October 2009 and need workbooks and some marketing materials laid out, proof-read and published. Our trainers will provide all content for each of the course work books and materials. They will liaise with the contractor regularly, so that the content is accurate, produced to excellent standards and fits in with our branding / values.

We need to turn this project around fairly quickly and need a person who can work speedily, with a strong track record in layout and a good eye for design, combined with excellent sub-editing and production skills. If you have had experience of creating course workbooks before, this is advantageous.

Course workbooks
We have prepared exercise content and need DTP/design and layout for five courses. These are marketing, employment and communications based courses.

Each work book needs a cover, using the Perfect Pitch Communications (PPC) branding and an average of 5/6 activities per course will be provided with blank space for course participants to write, draw or reflect. We estimate each work book including blank space to be around 30pp. The back cover would provide further information about the company, its trainers and other courses. We would provide on disk or by email our logos and paid for royalty free images.

We also envisage preparing a small number of pages (approx 20) which could be used on a standalone basis. These would be printed out in the office and used as occasional course handouts. These will be extremely simple

As part of the contract we are seeking three further marketing materials to be designed and laid out. These are:

â’¢ A postcard flyer: image at the front, PPC logo â at the back details of the courses and booking information. We would provide copy, logo and advise on image.

â’¢ Two wall posters: motivational statement, royalty image and PPC logo.

â’¢ A pull up stand design â this will be very simple, incorporating our PPC logo and strapline.

We are seeking to appoint the contractor urgently and once appointed would need to have this assignment turned around to a tight delivery timetable.

w/c 7 September: Initial planning meeting
w/c 14 September: Layout course work books for Courses 1-3. Provide all layouts for review and feedback.
w/c 21 September: Courses 1-3 go to printers early in the week. Start layout for work books for Courses 4-5 and:
Begin two posters
Begin postcard
Begin pull up stand.
w/c 28 September: Feedback provided for courses 1-3, posters and flyers. Alterations made
w/c 5 October: latest date for all materials to go to the printer

Perfect Pitch Communications is located in Bournemouth. Once appointed, it is likely that the initial planning meeting will be held here. This will be followed-up by regular contact via email or Skype. During the contract we would expect to see regular drafts for our feedback prior to final approval and printing. We take this responsibility seriously and feedback efficiently.

Our aim is to build a long-term relationship with a single contractor for future courses, so we hope that after a positive experience of this piece of work there will be a regular stream of opportunities throughout the year. We also welcome your good ideas, thinking and creativity.

If you are interested please reply with examples of previous work, and taking the brief into account state how you would propose to deliver it. Please specify your fee for the job. We plan to appoint the contractor and start work by w/c 7 September 2009.
