Description
Experience Level: Entry
Project Overview:
I’m looking for a talented 2D animator or small creative studio to produce a short, humorous animated trailer (approx. 45–60 seconds) for Instagram Reels based on a real-life, satirical story I’ve developed called Lullabies from the Throne.
The concept?
Years ago, I tried to get Prince Charles (now King Charles) to record a lullaby album for charity. I sent him a letter. Then a letter in a box. Then a box with 25 helium balloons. Eventually I got a very polite “please stop contacting us” from a royal assistant. That’s the story. And now it’s becoming a ridiculous, heartfelt animated trailer.
We’ve got the visuals and the script. Now we need someone to bring it all to life with animation, sound, voiceover, and proper comic timing.
⸻
Tone & Style:
• Soft, storybook visuals with a surreal twist
• Ricky Gervais meets Paddington meets The Crown, if The Crown had more balloons
• Humour is dry, British, self-deprecating
• Visual style is already defined: hand-drawn, pastel, charmingly lo-fi
• A bit Wes Anderson, a bit Wallace & Gromit, a bit “what on earth is going on here?”
⸻
What I Need You to Do:
• Animate an Instagram-friendly short film (45–60 seconds, 1080x1920 portrait)
• Provide the voiceover (either you or a collaborator – think Olivia Colman, Bill Nighy, Richard Ayoade, or someone who sounds charmingly confused by the whole thing)
• Add soft background music (harp, piano – lullaby vibes)
• Add light sound effects (balloons, rustling letters, tea cups, optional corgi sounds)
• Deliver a polished final MP4, ready to post to Instagram
• Optional: TikTok teaser or 1080x1080 crop for square feed
⸻
What I Will Provide:
• Finalised script
• Cleaned illustration panels already designed in Instagram format
• Movie-style poster for reference
• Character descriptions, brand tone, and backstory
• Any further comic input or storytelling support you need along the way
⸻
Voiceover Guidance:
The voiceover needs to be delivered in a warm, slightly bemused British tone.
Not over-the-top cartoon. More bedtime-meets-Radio 4.
Dry humour. Pacing is everything.
I’m happy to give feedback on voiceover samples or help guide the tone.
⸻
Budget:
Flexible for the right person. This is a creative storytelling piece with potential for future animation commissions, so I want to get it right. Please quote based on full delivery including voiceover.
⸻
Deadline:
Ideally within1 weeks of agreeing terms. Faster delivery is welcome if quality’s right.

Hi Simon,
Would you possibly share any references, just for the quality you're expecting? In 2D, there are a variety of styles.
