Description
Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
I'm looking for a structural engineer to carry out a wind load assessment and foundation/anchor design calculation for a stacked shipping container structure, with a stamped calculation pack suitable as formal sign-off.
The structure:
• Three 40ft high-cube shipping containers, stacked 3 high (9'6" / 2.9m height each, so approx. 8.7m total stack height)
• Standard ISO steel construction, corner-casting to corner-casting stacking
• Site located in Solihull, West Midlands
• Open yard setting — no significant surrounding shelter from adjacent structures
What I need:
1. Wind load assessment to BS EN 1991-1-4, appropriate to the site location and exposure category
2. Overturning moment and corner reaction calculation (uplift and shear) at ground level, and at each inter-container connection level
3. Foundation and ground anchor design — footing sizing and anchor bolt specification suitable for the calculated loads
4. A stamped/signed calculation pack I can retain as documentation
I'm not converting these into habitable/occupied space but they’ll be used to house activated carbon and have an access gentry to change out dust filters, I want the installation properly engineered and documented given the height and wind exposure.
Could you let me know:
• Whether this is something you're able to take on
• What information you'd need from me to scope and quote (site plan, container spec sheets, any ground condition info)
• Indicative cost and turnaround time
