Split large OBJ file into separate groups

Hi,

I have large OBJ file of the car - Exterior and Interior with subdivision of all the components. I would need to open the file and save every group of components with the identical material as the separate file.

At the moment I have 1 file for the interior and 1 for the exterior. I would need to split up the parts into separate files, so I can assign the material to each group of parts in a CAD software (tyres=1 file, wheels=1 file, body parts=1 file, etc). The master file was already spitted up into the individual parts, I just need someone to open the master file (3D OBJ) and save those individual parts as separate OBJ files. I did it manually for another project and it took me about 5 hours to complete, so I was wondering whether there is an automated way of doing it, or if someone can do it faster and cheaper.

I may need to do more than 1 car.
