Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I need a creative, competent & efficient designer to help with drawings for interior design architecture. I am in the process of designing a 6000+ sq ft home and need visuals as soon as possible. Someone reliable and responsive is a must!
Currently one of the largest freehold family houses within Southwark, the former
rectory is located on the historic St. Marychurch Street and is arranged over 5 floors
covering approx 4,800 sq ft. It has a private driveway and a rear garden.
Whilst the property is not grade listed, it is however in a conservation area and most
external changes are proving challenging within the Southwark planning department.
We currently have permission to add an extension to the rear, basement extension to
cover entire footprint, adding a central entrance to the property and a skylight in the
roof. We are going to planning again for minor amendments – basement to extend to
under extension giving a double height space and a split level garden. We now also
wish to extend under the driveway in the front of the house for a car lift.
The current plans that you can see from our submission lends no surprises nor
interesting spaces, it is quite simply ordinary and if it wasn’t for the feature spiral
staircase connecting all the floors together it would be uninspiring. We are looking for
an alternative and inspiring solution without a staircase that occupies so much internal
space but still to retain a “wow” factor.
Our intentions are to do a complete refurbish on the property, removing all walls and
floors, completely modernizing throughout in a contemporary, elegant and innovative
fashion creating a spacious open feel and maximizing the amount of light falling
through the house.
Rooms required:
4 Bedrooms all with en suite (2
nd
floor)
Master bedroom to occupy one floor to include spacious dressing room and bathroom
(1
st
floor)
Study/library
Cinema/playroom
Entertaining space
Dining area
Casual living area
Open plan kitchen with hidden area for sink and dishwasher – cold room/store
cupboard
Guest toilet and cloakroom
Utility room
Storage room
Wine cellar
House keeper bedroom with en suite
Outside space:
Gated front
Maximize space for car parking
Split level rear garden paved and low maintenance
Interesting ideas for double height extension
INTERIORS: I have included in this brief images with elements of ideas we like and
find interesting in terms of shapes, space and interior design.
Some things in particular to bear in mind to incorporate in your plan are:
floating staircases/spiral staircase
Stone/marble flooring– (little or no wood)
Interesting shapes to follow through in ceiling - Examples attached
Electric fireplace
No skirting – floors or ceiling (unless appropriate)
High levels of physical security
Most recent technology speaker system/intercom to follow through the house
Ipad control system
Wall space for special art pieces
Textured wall papers
Color scheme – White, rich creams, black or brown linings
We would like to achieve a boutique hotel sort of look in interior, however, homely
and cozy enough for a family and regular entertainment.
