Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Hi
For an upcoming exhibition I am intending to fabricate a series of spinning images. The image is printed or adhered to a sheet of aluminium. The aluminium powered by a motor spins at high speed.
Brief:
MOTION
- The motor(s) must be as quiet as possible (preferably silent).
- The motor(s) must be able to operate in a vertical position (mounted to a wall: Up to 3kg).
- The motor(s) must be able to be connected to a 240V power source
- The motor(s) must have a minimum speed of 3000rpm
- The motor must be of a size that allows the aluminium to be as close to the wall as possible
- The motor must be able to be controlled to vary its speed
MOUNTING
- I propose to mount the images onto a light weight alloy such as aluminium to reduce the weight and potential drag on the motor(s).
- The sheet aluminium must remain in a flat state whilst stationary and moving.
- The aluminium sheet will be 500mm x 500mm x 2mm thick.
- The profile of the image backed by the aluminium sheet must be as close to the wall as possible without touching it.
I am looking for an electrical engineer with some mechanical engineering background or vice versa to assist in the sourcing of the ready to use electrical components and the design of the fitting that attaches the aluminium sheet to the motor.
