Finance Assistant
We are seeking a long term freelance remote finance assistant to start on 5th August and work approximately 3-5 hours per week (we would like to start on this basis and discuss how long we require as the role settles in). We also have a general administration role available from later in August that could provide additional weekly hours if interested.
The role will consist of:
Finance:
Maintaining Xero accounting package, including processing all entries
Monthly bank reconciliations
Preparation of month end journals, to include accounting for income recognition
Invoice quality checking and preparation for dispatch
Management of payment of suppliers (MD will process the payments themselves, you’ll advise on dates things become due)
Preparing monthly and quarterly reconciliations of balance sheet & nominal accounts
Manage and process staff expenses, petty cash and credit cards
Cost centre accounting with Xero to enable project profitability review on a monthly basis
Monthly management accounts preparation
Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
Regular maintenance of cash flow
Helping prepare year end financial statements
Autonomy to implement systems improvements
Review of monthly payroll
Adhoc requests of a finance nature
We also have an additional role that may allow you to work extra hours if you are interested in delivering the following duties (when applying please state if you are interested in finance only or finance and the admin / office assistant work too, we’re happy to advertise this separately if we find a great finance person who doesn’t want general admin duties)
Office and Operations Support :
Assisting with HR and contracts (client, staff and freelance)
Diary management
Booking travel
Project management
Managing suppliers and securing best value for money on contracts
Ordering supplies - stationery / milk / etc.
Data entry
Research
General administration
Adhoc duties
You will ideally have:
Minimum 2 years hands-on experience working within a finance department
Robust working knowledge of Xero (essential)
Experience of monthly accounting processes and routines
Part or fully qualified accountant
Team player with an enthusiastic and positive attitude
Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
The ability to work on your own initiative
Ability to proactively take ownership of the office environment and support best practice in people, practice and place
Experience of working within an agency environment (desirable)
