Scan A4 documents to CD

We have a career's worth of projects in paper format (A4) which are taking lots of space in our file cabinets although they still have some use to their author. I would like to know what it might cost to get approximately 1000 sheets scanned onto CD/DVD to liberate this space. In theory these papers could be posted to you and you could transfer the data onto discs from wherever you are. We are London based.
