Design an Excel template to track time and charges

General information for the business: We are a firm of solicitors with 10 Fee Earners
Industry: Legal
Description of excel work: I currently use a spreadsheet to list the various work done on a client file. The user manually selects his name from a drop down and then manually adds his charge out rate and the item of time spent. The sheet calculates the charge for this time and keeps a running total.
I would like the charge out rate to be automatically linked to the fee earner and the sheet to then calculate the charge based on the time input.
I would like the date entry to default to the current date.

I also need to be able to easily print out an except of the sheet each month/quarter to attach a s a schedule to my VAT invoice.
I would like the user to be prompted to add a header that would print out each time I printed a monthly/quarterly schedule.
