Description
Experience Level: Expert
I need an expert in research that can do a deep dive investigation into the Ireland grocery market for me. You must already be an expert in this kind of work, with a track record and samples you can share with me (which will of course be kept confidential). I want a 'white paper' which covers at least the following
1) A summary of each of the major companies in both supermarket and convenience stores
2) A comparison of each of the major companies, particularly focusing on KPI's/metrics like market share, revenue, growth, profit, margin, cash, store numbers, store types, footfall, total customers, average monthly transactions, average transaction sizes, on shelf availability, sales per square foot, profit per square foot, inventory levels, employees and any other metrics that would be useful to compare the companies, both current metrics and historic trends for them all
3) A break down for each company into physical in-store and online sales, again focused on key metrics as above
4) A summary per company of digital sales channels available (webstores, mobile apps), their history, functionality, penetration, number of users, reviews, ratings, issues
5) A summary of the promotional activity of each company, what sort of promotions do they use (discounts, coupons, loyalty schemes, points, one off promotions, category promotions etc and information on the success of specific promotions and comparison of similar promotions between main companies and their comparative successes
6) A summary per company of their focus/most successful categories, do they specialise in anything, are they trying to be known for anything specific, where do they make higher proportion of revenue, do they have loss leaders what are they, what is their pricing strategies, how are they approaching sustainability, organic, store layout, checkout experience, store staff clienteling etc.
7) A summary per company of any in-store experience/offerings they have beyond standard grocery, so do they offer experiences, community activity, recipes/cooking demo, in-store takeaway food, free food/drink and some idea of the impact of these activities on company metrics
8) A summary per company of social media activity. Which platforms are they active on, what do they use them for, how active are they, how many people are they reaching, what are the key impacts on the business
9) A summary per company of what their growth strategies are, what are they actively doing to retain and grow market share and profits, and a comparison between the major companies on how their strategies align or differ
10) How do the major companies compare with companies in other countries that don’t exist in Ireland, like UK, U.S., Canada, Australia, Asia along key metrics
11) How are each of the major companies reviewed online, what are customers saying about them, are there trends
It needs to be detailed and comprehensive, it needs to be as factual as possible with statistics, diagrams, charts and not just an ‘opinion’ piece, statements and opinions should be backed up with evidence and proof.
If you imagine, that this is a white paper which is going to be used to inform a private equity firm that is thinking of entering the grocery channel and they want to know all about their competition, what is working well for them, what is not working well, who is better than others and why.
The white paper needs to be original content, written from scratch. You will use sources like annual reports, research company papers, company websites, wiki, social media, review sites, trade articles, news reports, financial reports, magazines etc. but I don’t want the information just copied from there, they should be used as sources for data and facts, not for the text itself, all text must be your own (although you can and should of course reference the sources you used).
